The 164th New Oaks Stakes took place over the mile and a half Suffolk Stakes course at Newmarket on Friday 12th June 1942 and was won by Sun Chariot (1/4 fav), by Hyperion out of Clarence trained by Fred Darling, who won by a length in 2 mins 33.20 secs. The winner won £1,879 (Equivalent to £87,200 in 2017) and there were 12 runners.
